Digital Photography II

Digital Photography II

I took this digital photography course at my first college, the Community College of Vermont, before applying to UNE in the fall of 2019. I had a background in photography before taking this course, but it was mainly wildlife and bird photography, along with the occasional human portraits for family and friends. This course pushed me out of my comfort zone and forced me to photograph things I wasn’t used to photographing such as architecture. In addition to the class pushing my comfort zone as a photographer, I also learned a lot about the logistics of photoshop and how to handle files for both printing and sharing on the web. I learned about how to work with image size for web sharing as well as printing photos on a canon printer and how to understand the many settings such as color profile that leads to a successful and accurate print of your original photo.

Course description from CCV catalogue

Selected works

This photo was from the creative portrait assignment. I decided to somehow incorporate the subjects name into their portrait. This is my brother Aidan and his name means fiery one. So, I painted this fire on a piece of paper and burned the edges to finish the look.
Photo from Minimalistic assignment
These photos are from the conceptual photography assignment. I went with the concept that we are so tuned into our technology that we ignore the beauty of nature around us. So, once again, I enlisted the help of my brother and he took every piece of technology he owned outside to do these shots.
